I WANT YOU TO FALL BACK IN LOVE WITH HAIRCUTTING - IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE SOMETHING YOU DREAD. WE MAKE OUR CLIENTS FEEL GOOD AND I WANT TO MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT CUTTING HAIR

Founder of MT Masterclass | Award-Winning Educator

Melissa is the owner of the multi award-winning Melissa Timperley Salons and the founder of MT Masterclass. She’s known for her precision, attention to detail and the kind of beautiful, long-lasting haircuts that clients come back for again and again.

She started her career at just 16 as an apprentice at Vidal Sassoon Manchester, training in one of the most demanding cutting environments in the world. While there, she achieved Distinctions in both her Classic and Creative cutting tests, something very few stylists manage,  and those high standards still shape how she cuts and teaches today.

Over the years, Melissa has picked up multiple industry awards, been a finalist for North West Hairdresser of the Year, become a Wella Colour Expert and a Fellowship for British Hairdressing F.A.M.E Team Member. She’s also been invited to present on stage at major industry events like Salon International.

But MT Masterclass really started on the salon floor.

As Melissa grew her team, she kept noticing the same thing many salon owners struggle with talented stylists who lacked confidence in cutting or had gaps in their foundations. Like most salon owners, she didn’t have endless time to train everyone herself, so she created a clear, structured cutting system that her team could actually follow and use every day.

That system became the MT Precision Principles, and eventually MT Masterclass, designed to make cutting feel less overwhelming and more logical, whether you’re learning on the salon floor or through the app.

Melissa is also a qualified teacher and assessor, and education has always been a huge part of what she does.

Her goal is simple:
To help hairdressers fall back in love with cutting and feel confident charging for the work they’re proud of.

AS A LEFT HANDED STYLIST I REALLY STRUGGLED WITH MY TRAINING SO I WANT TO SHARE MY KNOWLEDGE TO ALL MY FELLOW LEFT HANDED STYLISTS

Precision Cutting Educator | Left-Handed Specialist

Sara is the Creative Director at Melissa Timperley Salons and a key part of the MT Masterclass education team. With over 10 years of experience working at a high level in the industry, she is known for her strong technical skills, creative eye and calm, supportive approach to teaching.

Sara has worked closely with Melissa to develop the MT Precision Principles, the cutting system that forms the foundation of all the work inside the salon and throughout MT Masterclass education. She is passionate about helping stylists understand not just how to cut, but why, so techniques feel logical and easier to apply behind the chair.

Her passion for teaching comes from her own experience. As a left-handed stylist, Sara found training incredibly frustrating at times. She was often taught by right-handed educators and had to mentally flip everything she saw, sometimes even looking in the mirror to understand how a technique would actually work for her. That challenge forced her to break techniques down and understand them from every angle.

Because of this, Sara is especially passionate about supporting left-handed stylists and making education feel more adaptable and accessible. She knows how isolating it can feel when teaching is not designed for how you naturally work, and she makes sure no one feels left behind in her sessions.

When you learn with Sara, you will quickly notice her down-to-earth way of explaining things. She has a creative but practical mindset, helping you see what is possible with your clients’ hair while keeping everything realistic for salon life.

Sara is also a Wella Trend Vision Award finalist and a Wella Master Colour Expert, giving her a deep understanding of how cutting and colour work together to create beautiful, balanced results.

Sara’s focus is simple.
To help stylists, especially left-handers, feel understood, supported and confident enough to trust their cutting decisions.

I'VE BEEN PERSONALLY TRAINING BY THE MT MASTERCLASS PRINCIPLES AND I'VE SEEN WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES IN MY CONFIDENCE. IT TOTALLY REMOVES THE DREAD OF A CLIENT SITTING IN YOUR CHAIR AND YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO CUT THEIR HAIR. I WANT TO HELP YOU FEEL CONFIDENT WHEN CUTTING HAIR.

Precision Cutting Educator | Confidence Builder

Joe is a Consultant Stylist at Melissa Timperley Salons and a key part of the MT Masterclass education team. With seven years of experience behind the chair, he is known for his calm nature, thoughtful approach to cutting, and ability to make every client feel understood.

Working closely with Melissa and Sara, Joe has fully immersed himself in the MT Precision Principles and is a real-life example of how these techniques can transform both confidence and career progression. His work shows how strong foundations and a clear system can take your cutting to the next level, no matter where you’re starting from.

As a dad of three, patience comes naturally to Joe, and that really shows in the way he teaches. He understands that learning can feel overwhelming and that courses can sometimes be intimidating. Joe is passionate about creating a relaxed, supportive environment where no one feels silly for asking questions and everyone feels comfortable learning at their own pace.

Inside the salon, Joe plays a big role in supporting and mentoring other stylists, offering guidance, reassurance and practical advice that builds confidence step by step. He has a real talent for explaining the why behind each technique, so you don’t just copy what you see, you actually understand it.

Joe’s focus is simple.
To help stylists feel supported, capable and confident every time they pick up their scissors.
